Hey, Im new to this board, but hope to be a continued viewer, A group of close friends have a salt water fishing trip every year and July 4th weekend we are going to Port Mansfield, and was wondering what are the good spots to eat, or places to rent, places to fish (red and trout)

As for eats, it's pretty limited. We usually stop by El Jefe's on the harbor when we're down for a fishing trip. Plus they've got a bar that can be good at times.

In Mansfield you have two choices, El Jefe and the other place. Rent a house, A&N Bayhouse Rentals has done well by me. Nancy will get you set up, but if you're just now looking, rooms might be hard to come by. Bring your own food, and stock up on groceries "in town" before making the drive to the coast.
Also, the ONLY reason to go to Mansfield is fishing - LOVE it. Watch for sting rays and do the shuffle while wade fishing.
Color me green with envy.

For whatever reason, most of the guides in Mansfield like to drift rather than wade. I guess the laguna is just different than the upper coast.

There should be a restaurant there that will cook your catch for you. And don't be decieved by the pool hall that has "pizza". It's just frozen pizza put in an oven!
