I'm buying a house in Corpus. Does anyone have any advice on TV & internet deals? I've lived in Japan for the last 3 years, so I'm out of the loop on the TV deals.

I've got a plasma, so I'd like HD & DVR. Any suggestions? Is cable or DSL better?

I would go with cable, but I do not have a good reason why. As far as internet and cable companies, you have two main choices. Grande Communications and Time Warner. Both should be on the same level of service and cost, but one may offer you a better packaged deal.

Time Warner(and Corpus in general) is really behind the times on HD offerings. I believe my parents only get 7 channels in HD through them. I think only 2 of local channels even broadcast in HD.

Does Direct TV do HD? Do you think it would be better to get service from them?

yes, if I lived in Corpus, I would definitely go the DirecTV route for much more HD programming...i've been trying to convince my parents to make the switch

Avoid Time Warner if you can at all costs. I swear, our cable (we have the HD box as well) goes out whenever it rains and we normally have to wait about 2 weeks to get someone out to fix it. I won't even go into the other problems we have had, but go with DirectTV if possible, or I'd even resort to Grande.
