I just read these things:

1: Padre Staples mall was bought in 2007 and they are planning an expansion?

2: Sunrise Mall has gown downhill- lots of vacancies?

3: there is a new mall in the works called Crosstown Commons?

Anyone knoe if these are true?

Sunrise has been downhill for a longtime!

There has been a lot of fighting about the westside mall because the city is offering tax incentives. I think they also want to put in a police substation too. If I remember correctly, Padre Staples was very upset about this because they did not get any tax incentives to build. I heard the owner of Objects d' Art complaining about this. He is unhappy about his new location in the mall on the Chick-fil-a wing and is considering moving to Moore Plaza.

I know some renovations at Padre Staples have been occurring. They were redoing one of the entrances by Dillard's in December. Padre Staples fears that the westside mall will bring them down.

I think Sunrise is going to make a comeback....the new Wilcox furninture store is very nice and adding a little traffic to the area.
