I am planning a birthday for my Mom in May and was wondering (since I don't live in Corpus anymore) if anyone could suggest a nice venue, close to (or in) a hotel (for out of town guests)and possibly one that caters. Doesn't have to be on the bay front or downtown, just somewhere nice (and safe) Any "real" possibilities?

I was at a party at the Padre Island Yacht Club recently. They rent it out and it was a pretty fun deal...perfect for a nice birthday party.

There are quite a few hotels nearby on the Island.

My brother had his wedding reception at the Town Club. It is in the tube connects One Shoreline Plaza. Great venue and awesome view of the bay. They also cater.

We had our wedding reception at the CC Town Club in '06. Great place and the staff are professional and friendly.

There is a great Vietnamese restaurant downtown and it is also an upscale hotel. The V boutique hotel. Only about 8 rooms total but all upscale.
You could have the entire hotel to your family and great food downstairs. On Water Street.
