Is Texarkana east Texas? I am moving back to Texas from Kentucky in a few weeks, and we're stopping to spend the night in Texarkana. Are there any suggestions for hotels? Where is the sleezy part of town that should be avoided?

Yes, Texarkana is in the northeast corner of Texas. Part of our city is located in Arkansas. There are several brand new hotels built along I-30 between Richmond Rd and Cowhorn Creek. You cannot go wrong with any of these, Marriot Courtyard, Hampton Inn, Comfort Suites and they are easy to get to... The mall is across I-30 and lots of new restaurants and shopping within a stones throw.

Welcome to T-town.

that was my advice as well, although i will add that there are many restaurants and a mall in that area as well.

(oops you said that too...)

Dont stay at the Motel 6 across from the mall. I stayed there on night in college about 10 years ago and when I was checking in I meet Jesus. He worked next door at the Peterbilt Trucking Company...what a weird place..lol

I've stopped there a couple of times and stayed in a Holiday Inn that had an indoor pool. That was years ago though.
