I'd heard of this place since way back in the sixties and it was very good.



Always wanted to go to the REO Palms Isle in Longview, but I hear it's gone now.

My loss.

Also drove past the Tomato Bowl, where the Indians play in Jacksonville, and it looked cool.

And near New London, where that school blew up.

Also drove thru Buffalo, Arp, Shelbyville, Marquez, Crockett, Nachodoches, Palestine, Joaquin, Troup, Weches, Madisonville, Kilgore, Center and North Zulch.

I noticed that in the piney forest you often can't see the view for the trees.

Avoided the Interstates almost all the way to and from Shreveport/Bossier City.

Just thought I'd give you East Texas peeps a shout out, now that I'm safely back home.

Sorry Toby, Bodacious ribs @ 42 and i-20 are better.

You are wrong.

While Bodacious is quite possibly the best overall BBQ aroudn - the ribs @ the Tavern are clearly the best ever.

Crazy statement. Although I love Bodacious which is better than any place I've found in Dallas. Also, keep in mind that not at all Bodacious joints use the same recipes.

you guys have it all wrong.....make a trip to Henderson and go to Bob's BBQ...has made Texas Monthly numerous times as the best BBQ in texas....IMO--you can't beat Bob's

The ribs at Country Tavern are the best I've had around. Also, the RIO is still operational, just now it is an all mexican joint. The guys at work talk about going there every weekend. They try to get me to go, but they might not like gringos.
