I'm in Spain right now but my wife just told me that El Charros reopened in the Fresh parking lot shopping center. We live in Hollytree so I'm pretty excited.

I went to Fresh tonight and the parking lot was full and people waiting out the door for a seat in the new location. I think Tylerites like El Charro and will support them wherever they locate. I'll post about the food quality after I try it.

We went Sunday night and set on the patio. It had been about 10 years since I have eaten at Charros but it was good. It is my wife's favorite Mexican food in town. I liked it.

Flew in from DC and went straight there. Live right across the street in hollytree west, excited that they are so close now!

food was the same, the hot sauce was better

Gilberts El Charro is not the same as El Charro on the ridge regardless of the food. Go to Gus's Restaurant instead its the same and you aren't supporting bull****.

its called Gus's on Old Jacksonville.

Its complicated but this is not the same as the other Gilbert's El Charro thats why its called El Charro on the Ridge with the Gilbert's name dropped. They want to bring people in with just the El Charro name

Can't say I blame them. Looking at my Facebook it seems to have worked.

old el charro and gus'. gus' is particularly low quality ingredients that taste bad. i cannot speak to the new el charro.

i still don't get what is so appealing about bad tex mex and tacos in this town. the legend i have been peddled is that el charro was the original here so that is what people like (though it doesn't explain mercado's or posada's).

I went to El Charro this past Friday. The food was good, and pretty much tasted as it has in the past. The only problem is that I grew up going to the #2 location before they closed down. The salsa and the special sauce are from #1, not #2. We asked one of the managers (husband of one of the daughters) about it and he said confirmed the salsas are from #1, and they have always made them differently, and they didn't want to have 4 salas.

The margaritas were good as always.

Gus's is good as well. But their salsa is from #1 as well.

I finally ate there last night with my son. Food was really good. The atmosphere was really nice but I prefer a hole-in-the-wall restaurant when consuming texmex. But since I live 1 mile away I'm sure I'll be back. This side of Tyler is really growing and getting all the new businesses in town.

Went there on Friday night. It was packed and food was pretty darn good. Glad to have them closer to where we live now.
