I recently accepted a promotion that is in Nacogdoches and my fiance and I are not familiar with area. Our first priority is finding my fiance a job. She is a school teacher with two years experience. Any advice on schools or connections would be very appreciated.
Also, we could use advice on where to live. We would ideally like to live in between our two work places if she is unable to find a teaching job in Nacogdoches. We are in our late twenties with no kids. We would be very grateful for any other advice you may have.

I grew up there. I love the place. My parents still live there and were both teachers for 35 plus years in the nisd.

Most people with kids are trying any way to get in the Central Heights School District. As for teaching I hear things both ways. I know people that enjoy NISD and some that rather drive 30 to 45 minutes to teach in the surrounding areas.

Living, I suggest the north side of Nac, the property values seem to hold their value a little better than the south side of town.

I would make a suggestion for your wife to look into Garrison ISD. Wife made the switch after last year from NISD and the difference in her stress level is apparent. NISD needs good teachers, but there is a significant discipline problem(no corporal punishment) and no real consequences for serial offenders.

As for purchasing property if you are looking for a suburban neighborhood setting, Applebysand road has a lot of new developments that fit the bill. If you are looking for land to build on there is plenty to go around but the prices are creeping up.
