I've got to spend a couple days/nights in Longview for work next week. Where should I have dinner? My company is picking up the tab, and breakfast/lunch are provided.

I'm not too picky on the type of food, just want to try something local. And if there's any good BBQ there, I'm always up for that.

Dudleys Cajun is good--on 80 by Good Shepard. Bar B Q is chain--Some people swear by different ones. Country tavern used to have best ribs--it is on 31 west of Kilgore, some say it is not as good anymore. Catfish at David Beards original about 20 miles north-pitch until you win. It is on 155 north of Ore City.

+1 for Dudley's.

Country tavern is quite a trek, but if you have a night to kill I'd highly suggest it.

I'm heading up there this Saturday and will definitely hit Carlito's Mexican on Judson Rd.

El Rincon (not in the best part of town, but worth it)

I have always liked Johnny Cace's on 80 between 259 (Eastman) and FM 2208 (Alpine/Jefferson).

Country Tavern is not a bad drive from Longview as it's in nearby Kilgore, and it's worth the drive.

All good suggestions except for Johnny Cace's.

Regarding Bodacious, unless things have changed menu items could be slightly different at the various locations. I don't know if this is the still the case though.

I love their cobbler, but I agree that the rest of the bbq is average.

Good point. I was just referring to their meats. Don't remember much bout their sides or desserts.

havent been to the country tavern in years. just not worth it to me (i am not a rib man though).

honestly everything else we eat there are chain foods. just not much local going on, unless there is something i have missed out on.

Surely that is a joke. It's probably the best pizza in Longview which isn't saying a lot.

My wife's family loves pizza king.. I think it tastes like pizza toppings on a crappy cracker..

Pizza King is definitely overrated. I know I have several friends who stock up on it when they got back to Longview. It's good and probably is best in Longivew but there are many better places here in Dallas.

Simply nostalgia of it getting confused with quality.
