They love their motorcycle cops here. It's unreal.

For medium sized cities (There are 30ish cities that fit that criteria) in the state of Texas, Tyler is #1 in the state for tickets given per capita.

I've seen motorcycle cops hidden in residential areas behind mailboxes. It's freakin' ridiculous.

I've only gotten pulled over once. Two days before school started last August, they were testing out the school zone lights over near UTT and I got pulled over...not for speeding, but because I had my iphone headset in and the cop just "wanted to remind me" that I had to use hands free in a school zone. I said, "You mean like these I have in my ears?". He said yes those were ok. I think he was just trying to find an excuse to check insurance, registration, and inspection. It was a joke.

I hate that the bike cops are out at night now too. Before you would not see them past sunset.

I'm not sure there's worse town to get around in either. Sooo many medians and stop lights.

Really? I've seen them up until sunset or maybe driving back to the station just after dark. I haven't seen them actually patroling or prowling after dark.

Geez.....I hope not.

ya they are out at night now. I saw one around 9 on a Wed on the Eastside of the loop trying to get you for speeding. I guess there is one good advantage to the medians at times. Come to think of it... the times I have seen that has been towards the end of the month. Interesting indeed!

I haven't seen a bike cop at night, but I will watch for them now.

I always see cops on Copeland just south of the loop. There is usually one in the church parking lot radaring cars going south, and usually one between Hubbard and the loop on the east side of the street radaring northbound cars. the speed limit is 35. The ***** about the northboud traffic is that you are just coming down a hill, and even if you are just coasting for a long time, they will pull you over for going 40. You have to actively brake coming down that hill to avoid a ticket.

I respect cops as much or more than most....but when you're sole job as a police officer is to hand out tickets, that's where I start having issues. It ceases to be about serving and protecting and becomes about generating revenue.

Pisses me off.

Completely agree. They have deviated from the protect and serve motto, and have become tax collectors for the city.
