Hey, this might be a question mainly for the local Marshall dweller, but is there any indication that the Big Pines Lodge on Caddo will be rebuilt? Coming down from NH to see the folks in the summer and was crossing my fingers that I'd have my friendly catfish joint to visit...

Marshall Aggie here... There are rumors that it will be reopening. But as far as I know they are just rumors. So far nothing has been done recently. I think there is a very slim chance you'll have those tasty hush puppies this summer.

I was there a few weeks ago. It's still a pile of rubble.

They were going to have to rebuild it above ground and the compliance costs were too high. It's what I hear at least.

There is another fish place open on the river now but we have not eaten there yet.

My dad went to the new place. He says it kinda sucks.


Something is not right on the Big Pines story. That place printed cash for decades. Should have been plenty of cflow to rebuild.

River Bend is the new catfish place on Caddo Lake. I've eaten there twice in the last few months. They really have improved quite a bit since opening.

- Their hush puppies are exactly the same as Big Pines, same recipe and everything (a good thing)
- Great cole slaw
- Their catfish filets are great (maybe not quite as good as Big Pines though) my parents like their whole fish
- Their fried shrimp wasn't very good
- Haven't tried their steak
- They have canned beer, but no mug (weird)
