I grew up in Lufkin and was a big part of the lufkin-nacogdoches rivalry... those boys across the river

there were some great games, but then nac began to lose a lot of its talent...

what rivalry is prominent today?

im from nac

it sucks that nac couldnt compete with lufkin b/c i sure wanted to beat your ass. but reggie had something to do with it.

But, it still amazing to see the stands fill up with the conclusion guaranteed before kick off.

Elkhart vs Grapeland... 10 miles apart, but seemed to be white vs black....

and no I didn't mean that ricistly, but that is how it came out.

John Tyler is majority hispanic now. Lee got a good portion of JT's blacks now, as well as the mexican population booming in north Tyler.

I'm just a transplant, but I would really like to see the Lufkin vs Nac. game played at SFA where everybody that wants to go can. I've got season tickets when the games are at Lufkin, but there are very few tickets available for the Nac fans, and I have heard its not even worth the try to travel to Nac when they play in their stadium because it is way overcrowded.

I wouldnt want it to change venues. Non of that.

just keep it the way it is. well, nac should field a better team. but besides that, keep it the same.

I liked getting pelted with batteries when we went to lufkin

Sadly, I don't even know who Frankston's football rival is any more. With the re-alignment of districts the past couple of years, they got shifted away from Troup, Arp, Hawkins, Winona, and Big Sandy. I know a couple of those schools dropped to class A as well. But 15 years ago it was Bullard before they moved to 3A.

beat down. 34-0 or something.

fun article in the Nac newspaper before the game explaining the series. Apparently, Nac went something like 20-2 over the first twenty years and now the series is at like 70-27.

so, now you know the rest of the story.

oh and please dont hold me to these numbers as i read the article in passing but I'm sure you can go find it if you really want to see it.

You can't mention East Texas rivalries without thinking of Texas High School and Arkansas High in Texarkana, even if only one of the schools is in Texas.

08, you probably don't remember, but back in the day Paris and North Lamar were not rivals.

NL knew they sucked. We knew all we had to do was step off the bus and the game was over.

One year the blowout was so bad I got yanked in the first quarter so other guys could get some PT.

Come on now? Everyone knows the Longview vs. Marshall rivalry not only made Dave Campbell's and Maxim's top 5 in the country, but it was even a question on Jeopardy a few weeks back....
