Well over 15 years since I've lived in / golfed east Texas....but will have chance to do so in a few weeks. Any updates on Lufkin area golf courses?

1)Crown Colony -- assume still a very nice course based on $$$
2) Old Diboll Muni (Neches Trace now?) -- still worth a visit?
3) Rayburn Estates on way to Jasper? Is it even still there?

Crown still the best. Neches Pines in Diboll still good for the money. Rayburn Country is a pea patch.

Not a golfer myself, but my dad plays the Diboll course regularly and says it's still great for a muni, although the fairways are getting a little brown due to the drought.

Played Diboll last weekend, and it is in petty good shape. Hard to beat for the money. If you want to stay on the cheap I recommend that, or I hear Woodland Hills, in Nac, is in pretty good shape, but I haven't' been out there for more than a year. As the other posters said if you want to fork out some cash you still can't beat Crown around here.

how has crown colony held up this summer? playing there on the 27th

Unfortunately, we were rained out on Crown when I was up there a couple of weeks ago...fairways looked great at Crown from the road at least.

Neches Pines has back-tracked a bit over what it was 15 years ago....the layout is still very good...quality of greens/fairways not what it used to be.

But it's tough to complain too much when you can play 36 holes for $40 bucks....

I haven't played crown in a good year or so, but I drove by yesterday, and peeked down 16 and 17 and they look to be in great shape. At least from the road.
