it's a craphole town with lotsa pine trees

also, a larger than average percentage of the population possesses somewhat fewer teeth than what is considered normal in this country and the occasional mullet can still be seen around town

the northeast side of town reeks of papermill stench and the rest of the town doesn't smell much better

Ray's has really good burgers and Lufkin BBQ is pretty decent

Lufkin is ok. It has really grown over the past 10 years or so.

Slicer hasn't been here in a while I guess. The paper mill closed several years ago, so...no stench.

Not a bad place to raise a family. Good churches, good schools, good retail market, good medical community(2 hospitals, VA clinic) very philanthropic. Decent industry, though not what it was several years ago. Economic Development Foundation working on it though.

Hope this is more what you were looking for.

My hometown and not a bad place for a family. We're in the Hudson area as Lufkin is creeping toward "inner city".
