My in-laws are moving to Palestine. I've never visited the fair city. Can you help me with a couple of questions?

1. Are there any golf courses in the area worth playing?

2. What is the giant circle due west of the airport? It appears to be a road that resembles a bicycle tire.

Any other unique or helpful information about the town you want to add would be appreciated.

I've lived here my entire life...besides my years in College Station. Not really any good golf courses here. Pine Dunes in Frankston is only 20 min. away. Jackonville has a pretty good course and several in Tyler. Not sure about the tire shaped road. I'll have to look into that. And Don Jose's is not good Mexican Food. Great town to live in though.

The circles belong to the NASA Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility.

Is the Palestine Country Club (Meadowbrook Country Club) still open? I used to play it back in the day.

Palestine a one horse town but I like it.

Meadowbrook is still open. Have not played it in a while. Floppy Leon can fill you in. Sheps is still good.

i drive to palestine and eat at Sheps. Best BBQ in east texas.

the golf courses over this way should be ashamed to advertise......they look more like motocross courses.

Meadowbrook is hanging on by a thread. Greens are the best they've been in years though. It's an 18 hole w/ 9 greens. Shep's is ok. avoid the sauce unless you need a good purging. Order a Hercules sandwich. you'll be good. El torro has the best consistent mexican food. no authentic mexican food eateries worth mentioning. Country Corner Cafe on hwy 84 east has the best burger. Bring me a bottle of Glen Livet and I'll take you hog hunting.

Palestine is a great little town with good scenery.
