making a quick "fact finding" trip to tyler tonight to help decide if i want to take a job there.

by best friend is flying in to Houston tonight. we were going to gruene, but with this whole job offer i am diverting us to tyler. what places would everyone recommend? i don't really want to dress up. something like the tap or northgate.

If you are looking for:

Big bar with lots of people go to the Down Under Pub. Its on the corner of Broadyway and Grnade.

Small bar with college aged people go to Where's Rufus. Is accross broadway from the Down Under Pub.

Strip Club go to Time Out. Its on Grande and HW 64 (I think). Its got a $20 cover charge and its BYOB

Redneck hillbilly bar go to the Electic Cowboy. It on 110 just north of loop 323 next to a Bennigans.

If you want to shoot pool go to Clicks. Its accross 110 from the E.C.


Most places in Tyler are very casual, but the bars will close at 12 on friday and 1 on saturday. Also, all the bars are now non-smoking, so if you need to light one up you have to go outside.

those bars are the most popular besides going to one inside a restaraunt.

The Texas State Open is there this weekend, so you might want to make other plans for golf. There's also a few bars in the downtown area that usually don't have the same "Tyler" type crowds

what places downtown? remember i'm geographically chanllenged at this point.....

Its a Bullsheet yuppie assclown of place called Jakes.

Matt loves it because he can all gayed up for it!!

The placed I mentioned are on the South side of town. Thats where you will spend your time.

I would go to Ricks or Jakes downtown on the square before any of those places previously mentioned.

Eat at Don Juan's on the square for great mexican food and even better margarita's. then there is a lameo sports bar next door which is good for a few beers but then head to the bars ultra suggested.

Jakes is only for the snotty types who dress up in sport coats for a 13 dollar cocktail.

Don Juan's is a MUST though!

Jakes sucks with the new ownership. They changed all of the good stuff there. I would Suggest Ricks it's much better now that jakes sucks so much. The places down south that were mentioned are great if your idea a a good time is waiting for the Police to get called to break up a fight. Also they are always in the parkinglot of the Pub
