In Lufkin try Lufkin BBQ at the corner of Timberland Drive and Chestnut Drive. Great chipped beef sandwich plate and fried rolls. also in Lufkin try Pit Stop BBQ on HWY 69 South, just south of Jct 69 S and Loop 287.

Is Wagon Wheel not around in Lufkin anymore?

I think Bodacious is great for your standard chopped beef sandwich, ask someone how to get to Pat G's, it's been forever since I went out there but it off Overton HWY from 31 IIRC.

I had a girl hit on me hardcore at Daddy Sams in Carthage, complete with passing me notes and stuff.

Is Daddy Sams worth the drive down from Marshall to check it out??

I havent been in a long time, but I would be willing to bet that its still great, so yes I would drive from Marshall to Carthage any day of the week for the BBQ

I tried Country Tavern last week.

I thought it was badly overrated. Ribs were good, but not great by any stretch.

Will try Bob's in Henderson or Daddy Sam's in Carthage next time I am out that way.

Well, I made the trip throught East Texas and had that BBQ Battle between Kilgore's Country Tavern and Carthage's Daddy Sam's BBQ.

The Verdict:

Ribs - Country Tavern - slight edge
Brisket - Daddy Sam's - slight edge
Sausage - Country Tavern - slight edge
Tater Salad - Country Tavern - big edge
Sauce - Even Steven
Peach Cobbler - Country Tavern - big edge

Country Tavern got the Win. But, overall it was not as good as it is hyped to be...

But, that's just my humble opinion...

Should have gone to stanleys for a brother in law.
