The Angelina County Texas A&M Club is hosting this year's annual Aggie-Longhorn Shindig dinner and golf tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin. Jackie Sherrill is playing in the tournament and will be the guest speaker for dinner. Each year, the Aggies and Longhorns get together for a friendly dinner before the A&M/ t.u. game to show good sportsmanship. The sponsorship rotates each year between the two rivals, and this year it is our turn again to host! The money collected for the dinner, raffles, and silent auctions goes toward the scholarship fund. We will also be selling tickets from now until then for our popular “gun raffle”. You can buy tickets at the dinner the evening of the event. Raffle tickets are $1 each.

See sign up details Golf and Dinner are below:

#1: GOLF: The shotgun start begins at 8:00 am at Crown Colony Country Club. We will be hosting a 4-man scramble at Crown Colony with a very special guest…former Texas A&M Coach Jackie Sherrill! We will be auctioning off 3 spots for those interested in golfing on his 4-man team, and those bids will open on November 1st. The bids will start at $200 (to include the price of the golf itself), and if more than 3 people bid, we will continue on to take the highest of the bidders. To sign up for the golf tournament and to bid, please e-mail Linda Burton at AngelinaCountyAgs@hotmail.com and she will send you a sign up form. Spots are limited, so send in your forms as soon as you can.

#2: Aggie-Longhorn Shindig Dinner: Even if you are not a golfer, you can still make plans to come out to the Shindig dinner beginning at 6:30pm at Crown Colony! The legendary Coach Jackie Sherrill will be our guest speaker and the price (which includes dinner) is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. RSVP Linda Burton at AngelinaCountyAgs@hotmail.com if you plan to attend.

Just got back from the shindig, had a great time. Wife and both boys had picture made with Coach Sherrill. The guy really took time to talk with my oldest son and signed 5 caps and the picture frame for our photo. Lots of people turned out and had a ton of fun. Congratulations to the Angelina County A&M club for putting on a terrific shindig!

It was a great time had by all. The thing I enjoyed most was that the ratio of Ags to Horns was somewhere along the lines of 3 to 1.

I asked him what he thought about the possibility of a new couch and he said it had to be someone that understood A&M. He really wanted to say more but deferred. From the quotes after Coach Sherman was hired I think he approved!
I also sent the photo of my family with Coach Sherrill as our Christmas card this year, got lots of calls and Whoops!
