I have been looking forward to this place (corner of Trenton and Jackson Rd.)opening up but it looks like they have quit working on it again. It was to have been completed this summer and then again in September.

Looks like the owners have stretched themsleves a little thin or something. An article in the Monitor a couple of months ago said that they couldn't get the stuff to build it with. Sure seems fishy.

Maybe they'll open up by Christmas? Anyone know anything?

dunno but it looks pretty trashy sitting there in near ruins for all these months.

I heard that they should be done by late October.

I went to one of these dinner and a movie places in Dallas and it was a lot of fun. From what I was told, this is the first Alamo Draft House that isn't in an older converted movie.

Maybe they bit off more than they could chew. It is a large building and I am sure that it is an expensive project. Since Edinburg is not as used to these kind of large projects, like McAllen, maybe the planning required wasn't as good as it might have been.

Since it is only about 1/2 mile from my house, I hope that it is a success.

That place is in a sad state of affairs... and pending litigation as well. It's not getting off the ground anytime soon.

I knew something was wrong. That hugely, expensive piece of property sitting there with one or two guys coming in to work...just couldn't be right.

I would think the company, Alamo Draft House, would want their sign off that place if it it was just going to sit in the middle of a weed patch.

I would really like to be a fly on the wall of this litigation. I bet it will be interesting - lots of money!

I really don't know what is going on over there, but the stories are flying. One story, probably not true, says that a "little old lady" gained title to this property through a traffic accident in which her family was killed. Some "unscrupulous developers" without the necessary financial backing got her to allow the use of the land for a part of the future profits. Now that the money has run out she is going to lose her land and become partially liable for some of the losses.

Sounds like a good story but if it is true is anyone's guess. If you go to the "Game 2 get together" you will get a first hand look at the property. I wonder how the folks that moved into those establishments in front of that construction site feel about their surrondings?

I bet they aren't too thrilled now since the building looks like a pile of pissed on concrete.
