I was real sad to hear about "Lyin" Larry's passing. He for sure was an RGV icon. Very gracious and decent by all accounts. He was one of the few weather guys that would come out and say that a forecast had been missed. Nowadays people really forget how limited weather info was up through the early 90's. In the 80's the local weather guy held a very important spot in the community.

RIP Larry.

Lived in Harlingen from 2009-2020. Moved there having lived in two of the state's larger metro areas previously. My wife and I still talk about how even then it seemed like some of the newscasters were icons in the community unlike the larger places. Still some good small town/area feel to that place and there are days we miss it. Y'all watch out for those winter Texans.
