The identities of two men and a teenager who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in Brown County Saturday were released by officials Tuesday morning.
According to a release from the Brown Country Sheriff's Office, the three were: John Glass Sr., 69, of Brownwood, Bryan Glass, 41, of Temple, and Cody Glass, 13, of Troy. They were found by authorities at 1:11 p.m. Saturday in a cargo trailer used for sleeping at a deer camp near Bangs.
The sheriff's office said the men were using a propane heater inside the trailer without sufficient ventilation, which caused the three to be poisoned.
A second heater, not in use, was also found.
Because of the incident, the sheriff's office issued a statement urging residents to make sure proper carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are installed in residences.
Officials said carbon monoxide poisoning may cause symptoms like a dull headache, weakness, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath, confusion or loss of consciousness. Anyone experiencing these symptoms needs to be moved to fresh air and referred to medical treatment.
