The last 22 years have been very interesting out here. Watching popular chains leave, housing affordable, and relaxed drive times are a thing of the past for now.

My 2 barometers
I remember when the extended stay hotel by Midland Nissan on loop 250 was $299/week, now it is $599/week.
Another unofficial barometer is on Hwy 80 and South of Faudree Road.

I believe there are 29 in this photo, but there are too many to get this photo the way it was taken. I think there might be 40 now.

We counted 38 when we drove by Sunday.

Mind boggling.


Also, that econolodge/value in is back down to $499.99 a week.

Wow over 100,000 new people in M/O over the last 4 years. That is just crazy to think about. It has been awhile since I have been back to Midland......looks like a trip is needed. Hate to see the stacked rigs......Hope the turnaround is sooner than expected. Even given the current market it is amazing to think that there are 100,000 new residents in the last 4 years.

there were 109,000 in 2009.

Closer to 50k new people.

I hate charts that have inconsistent axes.

Here's a better representation. Don't go in 10 year increments and then magically jump to 1 year.



Boggles the mind that no one at the MRT saw that it was a problem.
