I live in NW Midland and was curious water hardness setting others are using on their water softeners to get what they consider soft water?

I have my GE water softener set to a hardness of 75.

I too live in NW Midland and use the "fill my cooler with bottled water from work" setting.
Is it possible to get drinkable water out of the tap? If I drink it for a day I get a sore throat for a week.

The water quality is mostly determined by the water quality of the lakes and well fields the CRMWD currently draws from. As we have been in an extended drought for some time, all the lakes are fairly low. As the lakes dry up and water evaporates, all the salt and mineral concentrations go up. Lake JB Thomas filling up should help water quality improve as the CRMWD begins to pump it out.
