Next week I am starting work in Odessa and I need to try and find an apartment this weekend. Can you please give me some apartments in Midland that aren't crazy expensive but not ghetto either? I wouldn't like to spend more than 800-1200.

Prices should be coming down with expected layoffs coming. With your price range, you should be good. Most of the apartments on the loop are pretty nice. A lot of them built in last few years. I've heard there is a new complex next to Buffalo Wild Wings that is not full. There is a brand new one downtown called the "Lofts" I think. Not sure if anyone has moved into them yet, but they are really close to completion. They might be condos for sale. Not sure.
Good Luck.

Prices won't come down until apartments start having trouble keeping occupancy.

Even with layoffs, there is still an approximately 10,000 unit shortage of housing. Nothing is changing until 20,000 people move out of Midland.

Our former complex actually upped their pricing structure.

Drilling is slowing down and anything tied directly to drilling is going to be affected. The housing shortage and higher price structure will go away if the price of oil stays down. The 20000 population moving out as you mentioned could very easily happen by spring. Hopefully we see a rebound in the price soon.
