Heading there for work next week. I've eaten at Cork & Pig previously and liked it. I'm intrigued by Zero One Alehouse and the Concho Pearl Icehouse. What do y'all say?

Zero One and Concho Pearl are both great. I like the Pearl more, but Zero One has a little more diverse menu.

Peasant Village is decent for steaks, or actually anything on the menu. Pearl is good, but stay the hell away from the ghost burger, ghost wings are good, but that burger is the devil's semen. The Grill is good too if you like CPT. Dunbar east is good for old school San Angelo.

Agree.

Not many old school places left. Seems like everybody wants to eat at a cookie cutter chain location these days.

Franco's at 23rd and MLK for Old School Angelo TexMex...

Thanks for recs. I really wanted Ghostburger or Ghost wings + bacon-wrapped jalapeños at Concho Pearl but was talked out of it and got Hatch chile burger. Pretty good but the bun broke up. Had a Diego's barbacoa taco next AM, good flavor and a good tortilla. Second dinner was the pork chop, there's actually two, at The Grill. Very good. Had a potato/egg taco from Julios this morning. Will have to try the other recs next time. Damn, there's a sh**ton of O&G activity and growth there.

As I recall, the frog legs at Sealy Flats were good.

Diego's Burritos or Cornerstop for a quick breakfast or lunch burrito. Henry's is the best Mexican (Tex-Mex) food around, but I could be partial since I grew up there.

Henry's is good, but I was more of a Franco's on MLK or Chilango's on S. Chad when they were still open...

Armentas is the best mexican food in town, hands down. Francos is a close second. Don't let the Fuentes or Henry's homers fool you.

Zero One has a great beer selection menu and they're about to start building a brewery inside. I love the Pearl, all their burgers are amazing and the chicken fried chicken is one of the most amazing things I have ever had. Grill is great too, I almost always get the rotisserie chicken from there. The aforementioned Cork and Pig is great as always. Shenanigans is a great sports bar and just started serving food, its right behind freebirds (Blockbuster for us San Angelo natives).

Lonestar cheeseburger is surprisingly really good...also checkout the Black Sheep bar and grill. It just recently opened up downtown in the old hotel by the manor.

For great home cooking, go to Kenny Blanek's (in the Village Shopping Center) on West Beauregard. He's a great Aggie, too, as are his daughters!
