Just watched SFA and Sam Houston play basketball on tv. Is ASU still in the same conference as these schools? If so, what has happened to ASU's athletics?

They are still DII in the Lone Star conference.

The conference took a hit recently when the directional Oklahoma schools jetted to another conference. Abilene Christian went to D1AA this year as well.

I went there and our athletics were ok at the time. Playoffs in MBB,WBB and FB. Natl Champ in Track and Softball.

I don't really know what's going on now, but track is the only sport they are dominant in at this point. My dad follows ASU athletics like most on here follow the Ags so he keeps me up to date for the most part. He thinks they'll try to go D1AA but I don't see it happening.

Just graduated from ASU, they play in the Lone Star Conference. When I played baseball it was a great conf. but I'm not sure how it will be now that ACU and IWU left for D1 (Southland).

ASU conducted an NCAA review a few years back to see if they could feasibly go D1. They came back and said that they would rather build up their current D2 program than be bottom feeders in D1.

So they have gone in and turfed the football field, and softball field and rumor is baseball field is next. One thing ASU can boast is that they have the best D2 facilities in the country.

supposedly they should have an on campus stadium and stop using SAISD's by 2015 football season.

they do have nice facilities, LeGrand is a great place to watch basketball.
