Howdy Ags,

I posted on another thread asking for some apartment advice but figured I'd go ahead and start my own thread so people could see it.

I'm looking to move to Midland ASAP, as I've just received a job and am supposed to start by the end of the month.

Due to the time stress and what I've heard from a couple friends in the area / y'all on the other threads, I've very quickly narrowed down my choices to either Aviare Place or the Waterford Ranch. Would love any and all advice about moving!

Are there any good public parks / outdoor attractions in the area? Also, real encouraged to hear from y'all that the mexican food is good around the area and that the A&M club is active!

Thanks again in advance

There are a few local parks, but to see the big outdoor attractions travel to:

Monahans Sandhills State Park (1 hr west)
Carlsbad Caverns/Guadalupe Mountains (3 hrs west)
Palo Duro Canyon State Park (3.5 hrs north)
Big Bend (4 hrs south)

Good luck in your search for an apartment.
They are building apartments and hotels out here as fast as they can. Unfortunately none are cheap.

I love the Mexican food out here. Midland cannot provide everything to everyone, but I think of it as a place that I can get to anywhere from. The people out here are the greatest (unless they are driving a vehicle )

I have heard about Waterford and I do think it is the newer of the too. There are tons of parks in the town but they are plain. The city is making improvements as time goes. There are running and cycling groups Inthe area. I run some at Sibley nature center and the I-20 nature preserve.

I am slowly finding more food places that are local and great. People complain and compare things to DFW- but you aren't there so that isn't a comparison to that. IMO.

There are lots of local groups to get involved in. I am on the board of Young Professionals of Midland. YPMidland.org
Be willing to look for entertainment and you will be fine. We can meet up with some other Ags when you get here. See you soon.

Welp, glad I read this now haha. Just put in my deposit. Seems like a good area and it's not bad rent either, especially for what I'm getting paid.
