Howdy guys,

I am new to Odessa and will be working as a service technician servicing well heads. Quite frankly, I am freaked out being here. I would like to meet Aggies that live in area. I don't know anyone out here. Well, except for the guy that was hired with me, but I think he might quiting because the hours are going to be awful. I would like to know if there is a midland/Odessa Aggie group or would like to talk to any of y'all that work out in the oil fields.

Yes there is a Midland A&M club. You can connect with them through FB or through the Association of Former Students. There are watch parties for games and monthly lunches. I don't know if there is an Odessa group.

I am apart of Young Professionals of Midland (YPMidland.org). It is a good networking opportunity with monthly happy hours. We have a College Game Day on October 5 at Triple Threat. Check up out on FB or the webpage.

Don't get spooked by the hours like your cohort. It's part of the business and you've got your foot in the door and will be bringing home a solid paycheck. You working for Cameron?

I am working for GE oil and gas. I am trying not too, but its hard. Would really like to meet other Ags in the area just to make it easier for me.

My first two years I worked for a service company (Frac) and averaged 100 hours a week. It lead me to the job I have now averaging 60. Get experience, get your name out there and learn as much as you can. There are so many opportunities out here once you have a little field experience under ya. Oh yeah, welcome to west texas!

I am not afraid of working 100 hours but working to the point you have not had any sleep for 72 hours because you are now working 115 to 120 hours a week. I want to make a future in this industry. I know it's going to be a hard work. I am also a little home sick and do t know anyone out here.

My house is always open for stray aggies needing a little down time. Always have a few cold ones in the fridge and food to cook.

If you're not working Saturday, I believe there will be a game watching event at Chitos.

However, over the past year, my house has hosted a number of people for short stints. An MCT intern, some out of town friends for a week or so, a friend who lost their living arrangements for a week. A number of random people have slept on the couch or air mattress in the past year.
