Generally, how are the cops in Midland? Are they strict on enforcing the speed limit? I usually go 5-10 mph over the speed limit. How are they in other aspects (response time, attitude, etc.)?

I have not really had an experience with them. With the increase of people and accidents I would say you just need to go the speed limit. You won't be getting there much faster - time wise. A friend is a DPS trooper here and after the stories he has told about the terrible accidents I don't blame them for being strict. On another note I always see MPD cars speeding around. I think their job is hard and stressful...we can just be respectful and try to not add to the load.

Looks like the police keep the crime rate lower than the state average, and in some cases lower than the national average. so they are doing a decent job, no doubt.

I've lived in Midland 23 out of 29 years of my life. I've never had any trouble with the Midland police.

I don't drive dangerously, but I drive on the fast end of traffic flow (70 mph on the loop, 45-50 down Wadley) and have never been pulled over by Midland PD.

I'm the same. I lived in Midland in my elementary through High School days. Never once got pulled over for speeding or any other traffic violation (and I am far from a perfect law abiding driver)

Now, if you're drinking underage or drinking and driving, they will have no mercy on you. I have heard of multiple stories of high school kids parties getting busted and multiple MIC's/MIP'S/PI's being handed out. So just be smart about alcohol, etc. and you should be fine

I can confirm the above. I know from experience.

Lived in midland from 1991-2003. Then again from 2007 to 2008.

When I left in 2003 I said I was never coming back, when I moved back on 2007, I remembered why I said I was never coming back!

If you do stupid things in front of MPD they will write a ticket. Just pay attention and don't do stupid things. We have enough carnage out here on our roads as it is.
