Howdy Ags!
My students start back tomorrow! If you have any great quotes you would share they will go on our quote board! I will be using the ones that are outside the Association for Former Students.

Also if you would be interested in coming an speaking to my students (7th and 8th grade) please let me know by providing your email. We do "college day' the 2nd Friday of each month. Kids can wear their college t-shirts. As you can guess burnt orange and raider red are prominent. I get all kinds of grief for my Ag Swag I would love to have several Ags decked out in Maroon to show a great face for our school. Thanks!

Will Einstein do?

----------------------------------------------

I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.
-- Albert Einstein

If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or objects.
-- Albert Einstein

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing."
-- Albert Einstein

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
-- Albert Einstein

---------------------------------

"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." (Sign that allegedly was hanging in Einstein's office at Princeton)

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
―- Albert Einstein (Disputed)

From Coach Gary Joseph (Now the Katy High School head football coach, at the time my track coach in 1983-1984 at Katy HS)

When I asked him if he had any tips on how to win this particular 200m race, he replied, "Take the lead and don't let them pass you."

I have always laughed about this quote for its simplicity, but it actually can be applied in more than sports.

I did win that particular race by me doing what he said, but it also describes the way my wife approaches her education. She obtained her first BS in Psychology at A&M with Magna Cum Laude grades and then her 2nd BS in Computer Science with a 4.0 average after almost 20 years. She is now getting Masters where she is holding an A+ average also. Always putting her early work so far ahead that she can always get the grades she desires - straight As.

Basically if you start out strong and you never have to play catch up in the end.

Some personal quotes I have used with my kids (not sure if original)

"Never stop at ordinary, when extraordinary is possible."

"Everyone is your friend until they have proven otherwise."

"Think twice, speak once."

"It is harder to listen over the sound of your own voice."

My favorite that I tend to use with my kids...

"The best time to plant a tree is 25 years ago. The second best time is now."

Of course, there's also the good ol' standby:
"Whatever you are, be a good one."

In other words, if there's something that needs to be done, do it now.
