Anyone else noticed that Midland water is smelling like a swimming pool? I know it is bad and I don't drink it. Wondering if I should fork over the money for a water softner? I had one at the first house I lived in there but now own my own home. Would love some recs....

Get an R/O system for drinking and cooking. I use Al's water sytems, costs me about $22 per month. He services it when needed. Not an expert, but I don't think a water softener is really needed with Midland tap water anymore.
Have noticed it smelling worse. I just buy it at HEB for drinking and cooking but I'm thinking of getting a 5 gal and buying it at the windmills...have heard it's very cheap.
Pretty cheap, $1.25/5 gal on briarwood. Got to the point where we fill up 6 5 gals at a time
any recs on where to get the 5 gals?
i got my 5 gals at The Water Shop- (Andrews HWY & Midkiff) They will fill them up. The water stations by my house are only $1 (Illinois & Midland & the stripes on Thomason).

I will check...I guess I can just call a plumber to hook up the RO. I bought a system but had people say that for the water to taste good I needed the Softner. Who knows.

Midland switched over from a Chloramine disinfection system to regular Chlorine. Notices should have been in the previous bills saying that the chlorination levels would be a bit elevated for about two weeks while they flush out the old water.

We have always had an RO system for the kitchen sink and fridge.
So I'm not going crazy. Good to know.
We bought a water softener to go with the tankless hot water heater in our home, but I would get one for any Midland home if you are able.
I could throw a football into the water purification plant from my house so you can imagine how strong it seems where I'm at.

You guys need to sign up for the city's newsletter they are using chlorine for a few weeks in higher levels.
You can self install an RO in your home for $125 give or take. Sure beats the hassle of hauling water from the watermill every couple weeks.

I'm sure water companies in town can deliver. You put the empty bottles outside your door when you go to work, and you come back in the evening and they're full.
