Anybody know anything about this organization? Looking at the Director position there.

I don't know alot. I run at the Nature Preserve weekly. Great little spot. I wonder if it will be tied to Sibley Nature Center? I have posted on TexAgs that people need to go check it out. I am a teacher and plan to take my students next year.

I know it won't be tied to Sibley, as they have that position open as well.

Check out the housing situation before you commit! Don't know what you will be paid, but it better be good. Housing is ridiculous!

The position pays 62-68k, which is 25k more than I make now with one full time job and two part time jobs.

If you plan to buy the market is crazy, My brother (another Ag) is having hell. Granted he is just out of school. You are making more than median income for the area so that is also good. Like it was said before secure housing. Bro is living with me while he looks or gets married first.

I lived in an apt for 7 months and looked during that time. It isn't ideal but if you can find one for under 1100 that is good and tolerable. Most of the NICE apts are minimum of 1500 according to brother. Midland is a good place, nice people, I often miss the city an such. Be willing to go out and find and meet people. Get involved. I wouldn't plan on buying; only renting if I got a job up there.

Just be prepared to put a large part of your budget towards rent. A crappy apartment is a 1000 bucks a month here. Anything decent gets you into the 1300 range. For a single bedroom. I rent a three bedrooms house for 1700 a month. Its a 900 dollar house anywhere else. I took it immediately due to the shortage of housing. Good luck.

The I-20 Preserve only recently available to the public. Very neat spot. Pretty much a blank canvas.

Burr just retired from Sibley. Great dude who ran top-notch Foundation. Also a really nice place.
