Beyond their football team, I have no idea how good the school is. Couldn't find an average SAT score for their recent graduating classes anywhere online.

Unless it has gotten a lot better, it was always pretty average. Trinity is far more strenuous academically. Midland High and Lee are probably more challenging if you are in all honors or the equivalent.

That being said, the environment is pretty good. It seems to me the kids there get into less trouble in general.

Mcs, like any other school is what you make of it. They do have honors classes. With that said, out of 100 graduates, 67 are attending Midland College next year. Ther are many students attending schools like tech, a&m, tu as well. They tend to send a lot of kids to abilene christian too. Trinity is tougher academically, but is very expensive. Midland Classical is another option. Very tough academically, uses the Socratic method.
All options are good. If sports is highly important to you, midland Christian is a great option. Trinity and midland classical graduates on average tend to go off to larger 4 year universities though.
Trinity and MCA are taps 3A and have basketball, volleyball, cross country/track, tennis, golf, and baseball. Trinity has 6 man football. MCS is much more developed in sports.
With all that said, my oldest son graduated from MCS and is now a senior at tech. My second son just graduated from MCA and will be a freshman at Baylor in the fall. I also have a daughter who will be a sophomore at MCA.
From my experience, MCA was great preparation for college for every student. MCS is fine if your kid is motivated.

Midland Aggie - why did you choose the school for your kids? The religious instruction? Did your kids have friends there?

Buck, loved the curriculum and starting in 7th they have a "college like" schedule. Like college, they have a lot of time on their hands during the day and they had to learn how to manage their time to stay ahead. They also have to make a 85 or better to pass. We felt MCA was great preparation for college!

I was all honors at mcs almost 10 years ago.

Comparative to kids at A&M I would say I was way beyond the average in Math and Science preparation.

However I felt my english and writing preparation was only average.
