Mcs, like any other school is what you make of it. They do have honors classes. With that said, out of 100 graduates, 67 are attending Midland College next year. Ther are many students attending schools like tech, a&m, tu as well. They tend to send a lot of kids to abilene christian too. Trinity is tougher academically, but is very expensive. Midland Classical is another option. Very tough academically, uses the Socratic method.
All options are good. If sports is highly important to you, midland Christian is a great option. Trinity and midland classical graduates on average tend to go off to larger 4 year universities though.
Trinity and MCA are taps 3A and have basketball, volleyball, cross country/track, tennis, golf, and baseball. Trinity has 6 man football. MCS is much more developed in sports.
With all that said, my oldest son graduated from MCS and is now a senior at tech. My second son just graduated from MCA and will be a freshman at Baylor in the fall. I also have a daughter who will be a sophomore at MCA.
From my experience, MCA was great preparation for college for every student. MCS is fine if your kid is motivated.
