$14/hr starting pay

I know everyone has "Now Hiring" signs but wow.

Someone help me- I have been in education for 7 years...I assume that is high for a hourly job that isn't tied directly to the oil patch.

My daughter is going to school in Dallas and a girl had bragged that she was getting $0.25 over minimum wage at Taco Bell there. My Daughter told them they can make nearly double that in Midland, which is almost true.

I know I remember that McDonalds/Burger King started offering $8.50/hr (a dollar over minimum wage) when this new boom started in Midland.

A Manager at Walmart told me HEB gets a lot of Walmart employees. He said $14/hr for day and $16/hr for night is the current pay at Midlands Walmart.

I guess nearly 2x minimum wage seems high to me for this.

For anywhere not going through an oil boom, that is insane.

For midland, that seems about right.

Ok, I drove past my Midland neighborhood McDonalds and they have $8.50-$14.00 on their sign.

This is nuts.

Measure While Drilling. It's a tool that measures inclination and direction near the drill bit in directional/horizontal wells. The person who runs the tool is an MWD hand.

Got it. Been years since I was around the patch and was always on the front end, selling explosives to the dirt contractor making the site!
