Wife and I live in Houston but she might take a hospital job in San Angelo soon. I'm currently burnt out on my full-time job and will use this as an opportunity for a fresh start. I had experience in the hospitality industry before I moved to my current industry and would like to get back into that - hotels or conventions/events. I have a part-time job doing video stuff for the Houston Rockets/Aeros and also Rice University athletics, so any video work would also be great.

I'm originally from Stanton but have been in H-town for the last 10 years.

Any help would be appreciated!

There is a strong group of Ags in Angelo. Have been gone from there for 8 years, so I am sorta out of touch. She taking a job at Shannon or Community?

You might check with Angelo State on the video aspect. Since they are a part of iTT now, they may be expanding that way.

There has been a ton of hotel/ motel growth there, which surprised me when we were there at Thanksgiving last month. Honestly can say why but they have several new ones in the past few years.

Some areas of CoL are cheaper there, but some areas are higher costs than you may be used to.

Angelo is home, but is sure is brown out there....

It's at Shannon. I went to my brother's wedding in San Angelo back in April and I did notice a lot of hotels. Any contacts for the San Angelo A&M Club?

Howdy! I'm on the board for the San Angelo A&M club. We have monthly lunch meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at noon at Zentner's Daugher. The cost is $10 for a buffet lunch and drink. We also have Aggie night on the second Thursday of every month at 5:30pm at Fuentes. To join the mailing list, email Judy at trtdoc1@wcc.net.

Thanks! My wife is still in contact with the lady from Shannon and hopefully we'll know something soon. I'll have to sign up for that e-mail list once we know for sure.

I'm from Eldorado. Lived in Angelo a couple of years after undergrad. It's a nice town. Great Mexican food but also plenty of awesome food in general. The Grill, Cork&Pig, Zero One Alehouse, and Sealy Flat's are all great. Hidalgo's and Armentas were my favorite Mexican food. Julio's and Diego's have great breakfast.

In general, downtown is pretty cool now. they have put a lot of effort into it. Go check out the boot shops if you wear boots. Mercer & Son make damn good handmade boots.

There are plenty of great neighborhoods in town. If you have kids, Wall has great schools. If you need a gym, there isn't a huge number of options but I really liked Gold's.

I may be doing my pediatrics rotation at Shannon.

All in all, the wife and I loved San Angelo.

Grew up in Angelo and loved the city; still do....my wife would live there in a heartbeat (and this growing up in Dallas), but not many jobs in my line of work.

Shoot me an e-mail (in profile) when you get the chance. I'm a BQ in '01 (name should give me away)so we obviously know eachother.

San Angelo is a nice town.

How is the water supply out there? I know that big storm in September helped, but I assume its getting pretty bad again.

Hoping for the best for y'all out there...

Capt, from my visit home at Thanksgiving, Angelo is always short on water.... Nature of living in the desert, more or less....

Yeah, but it's worse than ever now.

Didn't Spence dry up out there? I know its got water now, but seriously, I am unaware of ANY time in the history of the State where cities were literally on the brink of having NO water, which San Angelo was close to last September.

Hang in there and pray for rain this Spring...
