Midland Memorial Hospital to build temporary housing for new employees

There may not be anywhere for the new recruits to live, so Midland Memorial Hospital is bringing the housing to them.
The Midland County Hospital District board approved a $300,000 budget Wednesday to allow temporary housing to be developed at the MMH West Campus facility.
"We can't just wait for the situation to resolve itself. We have to be proactive," said Cory Edmondson, vice president of support services.
The lack of housing in the Tall City has posed a problem to those recruiting for the hospital. Edmondson said one recently hired dietitian was unsure about taking the job because there wouldn't be a place to live.
Within the next few weeks, construction for infrastructure work is expected to begin on land at the northeast edge of the campus property. Water, electricity and sewer lines will be laid, and officials plan to put up mobile homes and manufactured housing units that will sit on an asphalt base. The homes will accommodate families and single individuals.
