So we recently moved out here from the craphole that was Houston. Enjoying it so far but need to find a place to play some 42....

Anybody know of a Butcher anywhere near (cant stand supermarket beef and pork, IBP......) Ive been asking everyone out here with no luck.

Can't help you with info in Abilene, but there is a quiet little town just south of you called Buffaloe Gap. I would be willing to bet there is a regular game of 42 there.

TYhe little Mexican Restaurant has a great littel fry bread!!!

butcher shops are hard to find anymore. try the meat counters at the Lawrence Bros Supermarkets at 2160 Pine and 300 Sayles Blvd. Also Easterling Custom Meats in Anson.

pereni ranch in buffalo gap is awesome. on the highway west of BG headed to abilene state park and the lake.

Been hearing a lot about Pirini Ranch - will be making a rez pretty soon. Really want to check out Bonterra Blue in Clyde, very interesting stuff out there!

Thinking about starting a BBQ/Grill/Food "Club..?"

Meeting once a month....quarter.... I dunno.

A way to drink some good beer(any of you homebrewers out there???) and eat some good food(I need some taste-testers/guinea pigs) and play some 42.

Would anyone be interested, just an idea?

I pass by Easterling Custom meats every day on my way home from work (I live in Abilene and work an hour away... sucks!). Anyway, it never looks too packed, but then again it is Anson.

Just got back for Easterling - limited selection but they guy said he can get anything I want within a day or so, gets all his stuff out of san marcos, well see what kind of quality he can gete soon!

They have the best Hot Dogs ive every had, good steaks, and have some pretty good Jerky. Sitting on some ground beef (will be trying soon) and some of their Italian Bulk Sausage (well see if its better than mine )

update: Ground Beef was pretty tasty. Had better, but ill grab a few chubs anytime im in there

Bonfire, I just moved out to Midland myself from Houston. I'm always up for a game of 42. I may not be able to make a weekly game, but I wouldn't mind making a trip for 42 every now and then!

I grew up in Buffalo Gap and was just out there this weekend. 42 is dying out sadly. But for a bar w pool and shuffleboard try the BBQ Barn.

And even tho I am in FW I would be interested in your social club.

It is official. The last Sunday of the month we will be hosting a 42 tournament with the Abilene A&M Club. We would like to make this a regular game.

Sunday August 26th at 3pm will be the first one at our place out in Hamby.

We are still deciding on the format but will likely be 5-10 per person to buy in. Winners will get their money back and the rest will go into the scholarship fund. If we have enough teams we may augment this the desire will be to raise enough throughout the year to award a partial or full scholarship

-Chicken Rules will be in effect
-BYOB
-we are figuring out food
