My oldest son's roommate/landlord has decided to implement a no pets policy. He's got an eleven month old male black lab that I need to find a good home for. I would keep him myself, but I'm in an apartment right now with two dogs of my own, and it's just not possible. He's unregistered, but certainly appears to be full-blooded lab. My son found him abandoned and half starved at about weaning age. Has not been neutered, but I'd consider doing it if I could find him a good home and that were a condition. My female lab is 60 lbs, and by comparison I'm guessing he's around 75 lbs. Shots are current.
He's a great dog. Still has a lot of puppy in him, but is very bright and eager to please. He's fully house-trained, but is also used to staying outside. Completely non-aggressive, very good with other dogs (both large and small - I've got a lab and a bichon), and great with kids. We're still working on his inside manners, but he's doing well. He's chewed a couple of shoes that we've left out (what lab hasn't?), but he's never done anything destructive. No chewing carpet, furniture, window sills, none of that.
The pound is not an option. I'd like to find him a good home, and if I can't then I'll probably take him to the SPCA or try to get in touch with a lab rescue organization.
Any help in placing him in a good stable home would be appreciated. I'm in Midland. I can e-mail a couple of pictures if needed.
