Well, Krispy Kreme donuts are not bad, but give me the Rise and Shine donuts!

Whatever the Ashmore Inn and Suites have on their morning buffet. I think they may be dredged out of the United Supermarket dumpster, but they're still pretty good.

When I first got to Lubbock, no donut shop I went to had ever heard of kolches. WTF? Slowly some places are starting to get "sausage rolls" or "pigs in a blanket," but there is not much variety.

All donut places without kolaches suck.

I've found kolache is purely a central/north/east Texas thing. I didn't know what they were in the panhandle until I went to A&M. None of my co-employees from out of state did either.

Oh, and Krispy Kreme donuts are awful. I think the Amarillo one went under because after a year people figured out Donut Stop is way better and cheaper.

The KK in Amarillo went under because toe KK in Lubbock opened and people quit going to the Amarillo store for their fund-raising donuts.

Daylight Donuts on 34th has the best donuts.

Donut Stop in Amarillo has the best donuts...bar none.

In Lubbock, I'll have to agree with techaggie (howdy!) about Daylight Donuts.

Krispy Kreme is overrated, but everyone in the south (Alabama, Florida, Georgia) swears by them.

And, I'm with WhataMaroon88, I didn't know what a kolache was until I went to college at A&M. Its just not our thing.

The Kolache is a Czech food and was brought to Texas by the Czech immigrants who settled mostly in Southeast/South Central and Central Texas. That's why you mostly found them, especially years ago, only around those areas where there were established Czech communities.
