Damn, so sorry to hear this. I worked for a few years in Bushland and got to know him then, circa 1982-1984. He was a nice guy, and well respected in his field.

He "friended" me on facebook a few years ago, and it was always nice to hear from him. Had a few PMs from him on TexAgs as well

I encourage everyone to read this obit. We have good Ags graduating now, but there is something special about the old Ags who attended when it was not the popular place to be, and still mostly male and military.

I realize A&M had to change and grow, but I can't help thinking those guys had something we younger guys missed.

Thanks for your kind words. I consider you the "dean" of this forum, and I always appreciate your perspectives. I haven't lived in the panhandle since I left for A&M in 1988, but it will always be my home. I love being "from there," and I wish I was able to get back more often.

Hey Terry, sorry for the loss of your dad. I haven't seen you in quite a while and wish your family well in this tough time. I know his faith will give you a blessed assurance of his getting to meet Jesus.

There was a time (2013ish) whenever I was working at the Agrilife feed yard in Bushland and saw his window sticker and left him a note just to say "Gig'em". A few days later I received an email that the USDA chief wanted to see me in his office. Kinda intimidated, and not connecting the dots, I sheepishly entered his office and ended up spending a good two hours talking about our times in Aggieland. A few weeks later he invited me to lunch and we struck up a friendship, albeit brief because my time at the research feed yard came to a close. Your father was a warm hearted, encouraging and empowering man. He took the time to build me up when he could have just sent an email and never met me in person. I was glad to hear he was enjoying his retirement whenever he headed down to Cedar Park. My prayers for your family for your earthly loss, and joy in knowing he has his great reward.
