Took these off Western St just north of the 335 loop. Just an iPhone, no filter.

Congrats! We discussed going to look for them, but the closest confirmed sighting was Masterson.

In Canyon, the lights of Amarillo kill anything to the north

Looks like we were looking at the same time! I caught the Starlink satellite constellation on video. I was already dumbfounded with the aurora and then when the satellite constellation came through and sparkled, it took my breath away.

This view is looking west, not north. Got similar pictures from my vantagepoint off VFW just north of Canyon.

Right, to the west. I didn't say north, but you're correct it is looking west.

All good. That part was responding to CanyonAg.

They may have been the northern lights but that wasn't the direction of Friday night's show!

Yeah it was interesting because we were looking north. Didn't see anything until we looked west and also straight up.

Just got back from seeing some tonight. At various times, they were north, west, east, and overhead.

If you are looking for them, take your iphone out, turn the camera on, and scan any slightly bright spot you see. The phone will enhance the lights and make them much easier to see.

I could see them faintly from the house through my phone (looking NW), but they weren't as prominent for me as they were a few months ago.

Where did you go to get the best view?

Seeing the pictures people have posted on Facebook from Stinnett and north of Pampa have me jealous. I'm thinking a drive, maybe out to Buffalo Lake, may be in store tonight.

Our farm is about 5 miles east of BLNWR, I went that way for a couple of reasons. One was so we could get away from city lights, and the bulk of Amarillo lights are to the NE from that perspective. Although Amarillo is sprawling west, too.

Second is because our place is about 120 feet higher than city of Canyon. Third is that we are pretty isolated, and not going to have much traffic interfering.

I think Buffalo Lake is a good choice, except that the gate closes about 7pm.

You might also consider some of the dirt roads that run south from Buffalo Lake Road, about 3-4 miles east of the refuge. There's a high spot in that area, will get you higher than BLNWR. Almost no one lives or travels out there.

The down side is that I think the forecast for tonight is much further north.
