Basically, I'm pro Agriculture 100%! I enjoy my steaks and other meat, dairy, & eggs! I have close colleagues that work for the TCEQ as well as farmers, ranchers, and agricultural researchers & extension specialists. Many or all of them are Texas Aggies. This article is possibly biased but raises some points worthy of debate. I'm not living in Amarillo since I retired in 2013 although I still love the Texas Plains. In my years working with USDA-ARS, we were mainly focused in the 1960-1980s on the water quality of feedlot runoff. Later research in the 2000s was moved somewhat to air quality mostly on the impact on global climate change whether you believe that's a phenomenon or not. I'm posting this mainly for rational discussion not seeking personal defamation or defamation of the CAFO industry.

Spider, interesting read. Certainly makes you consider the industry with a closer eye, even if you disagree with the article.

Btw, I think we were able to meet right before you retired. I left a note on your pickup and got to sit down and talk with you a few weeks later. Hope you're doing well!

While assisting my invalid mother in far west Amarillo 2010-12 there were many days the wind from the west wafted in with what I presume is the same mentioned in the above article. Between that the odorific yukky tap water it made my return home a bit unflattering.

However, I will say reacquainting on a personal and first-name basis with foks I have known off and on through nearly 80 years was one of the highlights of my life. Fantastic reunions! No better folks anywhere! And I will always be fond of the less humidity and cooler nights when compared to down state and Eastward across Oklahoma and Arkansas where I now reside.

It will be very interesting to follow this - and the WT and TT Vet thing - over the next few years.

60th HS reunion at PD coming up soon!!
