How long do you want to ignore this user?
Who do you use and how much is it?

Right now I have Roadrunner/Comcast and its like $55 a month or whatever but I really do is surf the internet. I think I am spending too much; I don't do any big downloading, its just basically web and email.

Any cheaper alternatives?

dsl used to be about 15-20/month, but i think you had to have a land line.

you're going to need high speed even just for web surfing. dial-up would be infuriating.

In Sugar Land (going by your name), I think DSL only comes from Windstream. Maybe it's just First Colony, not sure on that. They aren't very reliable and more expensive than typical DSL (I think around 27/mo), but they're still cheaper than Comcast.

I recently left them for Comcast as the slow speed and downtime were getting to me.

You might try changing from Comcast to Earthlink cable (its the same system). You can get it for something like $19.95 for six months with no contract. I think they also have a pretty fast plan for $39.95 after that runs out (but who knows what the rate will be in six months).

Earthlink cable isn't available in my section of Sugar Land. Bummer. One could just bounce back and forth between them and Comcast on the introductory promo deals.

Any experience with the At&t U-verse wireless internet? I was thinking about switching from Comcast. . .

SL Wes, yes, I went ahead and purchased the wireles s router thingy thangy, I believe it was $30 or $40 bucks, I don't remember specifically as I was reimbursed via my company.

It works like a charm though, there were three levels when I bought it last year and I choose the middle one.
