As I am trying to make a point to venture out from my regular spots and try out other bars...this thread can serve as a 'database of awesome' for those looking to party in the houston area.

List any bars that you frequent (or are a fan of) as well as their area (galleria, heights, midtown, etc)...you can also include the genre (dive, club, live music, etc).

My uncle was just appointed to the Board of Directors for the HLSR, His cowboy hat is on the wall above the shuffle board table.

Went to the Maple Leaf this weekend. Smith and Elgin in Midtown. It was definately an interesting crowd. I felt like I was hanging out with Canadian Rednecks. There was a tense-ness over the crowd, couldve been too much LaBlatt Blue, but at any moment I thought there could be a Brawl with gloves going to the floor and hockey jerseys being pulled over the back.

The Armadillo is one of my favorites.

Rice Village is terrible.

The Marquis III is money for a low key drunk fest on Tuesday nights.

I implied this, but half the crowd at the maple leaf was wearing hokey jerseys. Plus the back door was open so you could take your drink outside. We got a bucket for the road. Later in the night they started playing Robert Earl Keen and a some other Texas Artists..

The black swan, at the bottom of the Omni hotel in the galleria area is money on weekends. Always a party in that place.

The only way I can describe them all is a load of Awesome. Just make sure you dress to impress... those places are all really exclusive so if you don't looks important, you aren't getting in the door.

ruthie's is a pretty good spot, but i have problems finding the damn place. near mcelroys.



if you haven't been here, its basically a pre-fabricated building right near some paint store on richmond. same owner as kenneally's. just a good little drinking spot, but i'm sure there won't be any cougars/great looking women in here.
