That house is on River Oaks Blvd. According to HCAD, the largest house on the street is 16,931 sqft - Sarofim's.

I was once told that millionares live in River Oaks, and billionares live on Carnarvon.

The 3 largest houses on Carnarvon are 30,432 sqft, 26,401 sqft and 18,003 sqft.

If you've never driven down the street, do it. Pretty amazing.

I think I read somewhere Tilman Fertitta's house in River Oaks is the highest valued private residence. HCAD values it at 13.6 million. 25k square ft on about 5-6 acres it looks like.

Could be wrong, but even if it's not first its gotta be up there.

i got to see this place several years ago and it was one of the largest back then. not sure about now though.

lot size: 154,581 SF living area: 21,918 SF

I know the guy who lives in the 30,432 sq feet house on Carnarvon. It is appraised at 8.4 mil according to HCAD, but I can tell you he spent WELL more than that.

The house I referenced is on Inwood and is James Flores', CEO of Plains. His home, according to HCAD, is 28,107 SF and its taxed value is $19.71 Million.

I know of a house that is over 45K sq. ft. covered. Not including the 10 car garage. However it is located north of The Woodlands.

Carnarvon is off Memorial just west of the Loop. River Oaks has at least five of Houston's billionaires (Duncan, Kinder, Sarofim, Jamail, McNair).

I know someone who lives on Harness Creek. The home is approx. 20,000 SF and its tax value is approx. $8.0 Million.

I can tell you with certainty that he has spent more than $25.0 Million on the house. That gives you an idea of how far off these tax values are.

Amazing you can have houses and lots that massive inside the loop. Live on a country club estate and commute to both downtown and uptown in like 5 minutes.

I think Flores' is the highest in terms of Tax value. I can't find one larger - not on Willowick, Inwood, Carnarvon, or Inverness.

Tax value is not a good indication of a home's worth. And HCAD's appraised values are waaaaay off. That's why I only showed sqft.

Carnarvon is just past (west of) Stablewood off Memorial.

I know they're way off (Harness Creek example). I can't find a home with a higher tax value than Flores' though.

The 30,000 SF home is probably the largest in Houston proper. Doubt it's the most expensive though - that honor probably goes to a home on Willowick, Inwood, etc. just because of the location.

The 30,000+ sq ft house is actually 27,000 and change in the main house and 3,700 in the guest house.

I thought that was the Flores house. The company I work for sold him a pump station that drains his pool in the front yard. It cost over $20k.

There is one in the Pearland/Frienswood area I think that is in the 20's sq ft wise. I think it is owned by a man who has a bunch of Montessori schools.

The most expensiev home for sale is 1000 Kirby. You can look at it on har.com. It's owned by some Saudi shiek that is here like twice a year. If one of yall will buy it, I will help you throw a house warming party.

most of the very expensive houses don't get listed on MLS. They're sold through Christies Auction and other services like that.

Pastor Hilliard of the New Light Church has 24,939 SF house across from Hooks Airport. In addition, he has five 2241 SF homes on the same piece of property.

Fertitta owns a Bentley (plus Rolls Royce, and various other luxury cars) dealership. He mostly drives a silver Bentley and an Escalade.

my wife attended a party at Tillman's house the day we got engaged. she got some complimentary Chanel shades that would have cost $300 or so if she bought them in a store. she liked the house.

I always see those houses by Hooks Airport off of Stuebner Airline and wondered who they belong to. The one I can see from the road looks big but pretty unimpressive. The man doesn't even have grass on the front of his propoerty. Must have spent all his money of the houses.

and because it is 'church property'. The Houston Tax office disagreed and tried to appraise it...and got a visit from none other that Jesse Jackson.

The property remains 'church property'.
