This may or may not remain the case, depending on the boundary resolution FBISD goes with. Elkins is significantly over capacity (2800+) and if Quail Valley goes back to DHS, they'll get a significant enrollment bump and at least have a chance to be something other than abysmal.

Lamar consol ISD AD told Randle don't hit a 100.

Years ago Sam Houston HS just pulled the plug on football. Dulles might consider doing the same.

How did I see it or how do they only have 20 players?

If you're asking why they only have 20 players, the school is 60 percent Asian and Hispanic and something like 20 percent don't speak English as a first language. It also is home to a specialized math and science academy that draws from across the district, so a lot of the students aren't interested in football or don't live close by so can't easily stay late or come in early for extra-curriculars.

I read on FB that as the team has gotten worse over the past couple of seasons, the number of players in the program has dwindled so they only have 20 left.

I saw the roster on MaxPreps and that's what I counted, too.

Not sure where you saw their roster, but it looks like they have 46 players, according to the Dulles/FB official website.

If you're looking at MaxPreps, that's probably the last place you should look for accurate rosters. I've seen lots of incomplete rosters in the past.

Willowridge has produced 15 NFL players -- including the great Thurman Thomas -- and won a state title in 1982. Most of those NFLers were from the late '80s and '90s.

But changing demographics have had an impact there, too. Willowridge is now close to 60 percent Hispanic and has the lowest enrollment of any FBISD high school.

Off topic, but always thought it was super random that John Foster Dulles has a high school named after him in Sugar Land, Texas of all places

I never thought about that. Super random. If wikipedia is to be believed, the school district wanted to name it Kempner HS but the Kempner family at the time told them the school shouldn't be named after them but rather be named after past war heros. Looks like the district turned their hw in last second and just went with the most recent federal government figure who died. I assumed he had some local or Texas ties.

I graduated HS in 1995, they were a stud program back then. My high school was not. But a lot of things change over the years, it is what it is. My old high school football success is not one of those things that has changed much.

I went to a B'wood vs Willowridge game in maybe '91 or so. Willowridge had Mike Miller, the next Rocket Ismail, and had fullback Derek Harris, who had "transferred" from Angleton. He later played for Miami.

Willowridge band performed Ice Ice Baby at halftime.

The highlight of seeing WIllowridge in the playoffs was always the band with the 3 strutting male drum majors. Saw them 10 straight minutes of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" one year. The suburban band parents were horrified on the other side of the stdaium.
