With all of the news reports and estimates of 500K visitors coming to H-Town, I would expect traffic to already be picking up by now. I know the first local game is not till Sunday, but I don't see much of an impact yet. (I drive regularly from Energy Corridor - Galleria - Downtown)

I landed yesterday late morning at IAH and headed toward the Galleria area for a lunch. Traffic on BW8 and 610 and then Katy Freeway a bit later was noticeably heavier for a summer Wednesday in between rush hours.
I don't know why this would be any worse than rodeo. The games are every few days. They are going to have far less attendance than rodeo because you can't even be on the grounds unless you have tickets into the stadium. Are the hotels going to be more busy? Sure. Is there going to be slightly more traffic around EADO and NRG? Sure. But it isn't going to shut down the city.

EADO is already a nightmare. But at the very least a lot of people don't go that direction so it shouldn't be too bad as a whole. Downtown going into EADO will be horrific

I was thinking the same thing in comparison to the rodeo. Maybe people are counting on more scenesters and hangers-on showing up? IDK.

Going to the game Sunday. I am planning to treat this like the Rodeo, - avoiding all Metro, Ride Share and Freeway interchanges. Looking at map there will be more parking and less people than the Rodeo since only ticketed fans get in the red fence.

My coworker thinks there will be a lot of foreigners in rentals and I am hoping google maps will take them all to Kirby from 610.

I'll be going, too. Trying to figure out the entry points. I'm planning to park in my work lot at Smith Lands, and just walk down North Stadium like we usually do. Can't tell if that entrance will be open or not. There are a few black lines on that map, including where we usually enter a pedestrian gate, but I'm not sure if those indicate pedestrian entrances or not. Any idea?

According to the NRGPark website, ALL PARKING MUST BE PREPAID IN ADVANCE. You will not be allowed to just pull up and pay with a card. Oh yea, and parking starts at $125. DO NOT TREAT THIS LIKE THE RODEO unless you have properly planned ahead and paid ahead.

Apparently the parking situation was an absolute Shot show and free for all with nobody checking passes, helping with traffic flow, etc

It has been very tough
Going next Saturday and trying to think of a parking plan.
Went today. Took OST to Stadium dr. No traffic. Parked under cover for $50. Walked to gate 2. Gate entry part sucked. They funnel you into a snake. Stay in the center it's the fastest. After that it was fine. Reverse was even easier.

Saw 2 DPS units performing stops on the West Loop today.
We may need to slow down in some of those spots where we got used to not seeing HPD anymore, if we've got supplementals in town.

There's a parking garage and a few lots on North Stadium drive. They all had parking yesterday for $40. Get there early enough and you may even be able to grab a free street spot on La Concha. Come in the back way on Braeswood, park in one of those, then exit to Braeswood (not OST) and skip all the nonsense. Braeswood can take you to the loop one way, or towards 288 the other way. Save time and money.
The City has asked companies to allow for WFH if and when possible on the days of the "matches" I'll take the day of not having to commute, but it is all silly. The weather this week will create much more of a traffic mess than this game will
