HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Willowbrook Mall announced temporary new rules on Thursday for guests under the age of 17.

Saturday, May 2, and Saturday, May 9, those 17 and under must be accompanied at all times by a parent, or a supervising adult age 21 or older, in the mall after 2 p.m.

Willowbrook Mall will have trained safety officers stationed at all entrances to verify age for guests who appear to be 17 years old or younger.

Those who cannot provide a valid ID showing they are at least 18 or older must be accompanied by a supervising adult in order to stay at the shopping center.

Willowbrook Mall also announced one adult may accompany up to four visitors under the age of 18, but must stay with them at all times.

Willowbrook Mall said the "Parental Guidance Required" program was put in place in response to recent social media activity, "indicating the potential for disruptive, unsupervised gatherings of youth".

When my wife and I were dating, I thought going to the Olive Garden by Willowbrook Mall was upscale dining and I had to get dressed up.

Apparently, there is a social media push/trend where a location is chosen -- then kids try to take it over and cause chaos -- Project X style -- with violence as well.

It's on TikTok and Instagram. Willowbrook is enforcing the curfew Saturdays 5/2 and 5/9 because takeovers were advertised.

Au contraire. Took my kids to the library after school a couple days ago and there were about 40 urban youths acting an ass inside. We got there just as the cops arrived because the librarians called the cops on all of them.

Yep, the 'youths' figured out they can rent laptops and ipads for free while at the library.

The books are still in pristine condition though.

Ha they were doing nothing with laptops or computers, just running around jumping on things and screaming. It was so satisfying watching that cop kick them all out.
