Welp, look like our Samsung TV succumbed to whatever causes the screen blackout. Any of y'all know of a repair shop that does quality work and is trustworthy?

Yes, I think it would be cheaper than replacing.

TVs are basically disposable now, I would just buy a new one.

Power supply? Either replace it yourself or get a new one. By the time your TV dies, it's obsolete anyway.

You can repair it yourself, most likely. Gotta take off the back cover and open it up. There are 3 main things in it and you can replace each pretty easily. Go online and see if you can figure out which one has gone bad. Then open it up, identify the bad board and order a new one, likely off ebay and install. The boards are just held in by a couple screws and some snap in cables. The hardest part is opening up the tv.
Also, they seem to source parts from different suppliers, so you can't just use your model number and order the board. You have to open it up and properly identify the board your tv has.
All this to say, just buy a new one.

A comparative new TV is $2600. If I can repair our existing for a few hundred, I think it's worth the repair.

I always wondered who buys a $2,600 TV these days.

You can get a previous year model 75" Samsung/LG TV for $500-1000 and there's not a noticeable quality difference when you get it in your home.

It's an OLED TV, thus the higher price.

Does a $2600 TV get more college football games than a $700 TV?

This thread really holds some promise to ignite this board until the Rodeo lineup comes out later today.

I really hope someone can find the fuel to ignite the flames as we've got a good smolder going.

I for one am glad people pay $2,600 for tvs. Someon's got to keep the Best Buy's of the world in business. Not me though!

TV's were so much better back in my day. I haven't heard of any of these brands. And what's the deal with two separate Korean tv's? Used to be just one.

I have a 12 year old LG that become the patio TV 6 years ago and now it's got a matrix of white orbs on the screen when it's on. Anyone know what causes that?

But yes, I was shocked to see how cheap TVs were when we moved in 2019 and I got two decent LG 70" TVs for $1,750 combined. Yes, I know LG isn't professional level, but these show Netflix & Disney+ just fine, and I got to finally toss the Firestick.

For $2600, the TV better hand you a box of tissues at the end of every devastating Aggie loss you watch on it.

I don't mean to brag but over the summer when Amazon was honoring Optimus Prime, I bought a 65", 55", and 50" for less than $800.

That's less than $5 an inch for 4K smart amazingness.

Have to imagine it's the same rush as pure Venezuelan cocaine that hopefully we can now get our hands on.

I'd replace it. 20 years ago I spent 4000 plus on a really nice tv for my home theatre. It worked great for ten years and then had a reboot issue. I replaced the video board and it worked for another year. Then I moved and toted it with me. It cropped back up with an issue but I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it. It was a 3D tv, super snazzy. When it finally crapped out I decided I didn't want to spend another hundred bucks to replace the power supply which may have fixed it. So, I went to Costco and got the biggest nicest 85" tv to replace it with….and the price was well under 2,000 and it blew the old one out of the water in terms of just about every metric around for TVs. It has technology that isn't even utilized by broadcasts now most of the time.

Your tv repair guy is going to probably charge 350 plus parts. And they probably won't guarantee anything because there aren't any true repair guys. The only thing left now are parts swappers. You can do that yourself if you want to try to fix it.

I think you have to buy gold plated monster brand or the tv won't work. Man, the hdmi racket was the biggest scam for a while.

I'm sure all of you will not care or be happy, but on a whim, I wiggled the power cable at the TV some, here we are working again.

So, if it happens again, probably a janky connection in the power supply.
