I am coming into town this week for a conference at GRB. Any good sushi places within 30 minutes of downtown?

Hidden Omakase

Wife and I like going to Blue Sushi in MKT and Handies Douzo off White Oak.

30 minutes from downtown allows you to cast a pretty wide net. So many great sushi options in Houston.

Kata Robata - our standard go to. Wagyu skewers are a must. Lobster ramen is great as well
Ume - great sushi bar because you can really see the chefs doing their thing
Katami - same group as Kata. New and very good
Zen Izakaya - where the Japanese expats go
Kokoro - solid option downtown

I'll second Kata. The amberjack with foie gras is one of my favorite bites in the city.

Uchi is another option that's not too far from downtown.

Thank you everyone for the responses. Looks to be some good places! We will be here most of the week so we might try multiple spots. I was looking at the Kata menu and it sounds great. Definitely try it.

Yeah 30 minutes is a huge swathe! I mean we're talking about Willis to Freeport, Columbus to Vidor, and everything in between.

But at the right time, 30 minutes could also mean Weslayan to Buffalo Speedway on Westheimer.
